Ovulation is the process by which the ovary releases an egg. The egg then travels to the fallopian tube where it is fertilized. In order for pregnancy to occur, the egg must be fertilized by sperm within 24 hours of release. Prior to ovulation, the body produces a surge of luteinizing hormone (LH) which prompts the ovary to release a mature egg. This “LH surge” usually occurs in the middle of the menstrual cycle. The LH Ovulation Test (Urine) is a complete system that helps predict when ovulation will occur and during your peak fertility period. During this fertile period, pregnancy is most likely. The LH Ovulation Test (Urine) detects an LH surge in the urine, which indicates that ovulation is likely to occur within the next 24-36 hours. The test utilizes a combination of antibodies, including a monoclonal LH antibody, to selectively detect elevated LH levels.

IMPORTANT: The LH surge and ovulation may not occur in all menstrual cycles.
